Work area for 400 meter sewer extension along Mountain Ave

The City of Winkler is installing 400 meters of 14.75” sewer main along Mountain Ave between 4^th and 8^th street. The increased sewer capacity that this extension provides will alleviate pressure on the existing Mountain Ave 12” sewer main during large wet weather events and sewer blockages. The increased capacity will also allow for more residential activity within the areas that the sewer trunk system supports. The City completed a public tender process and engaged Rocky Road Recycling as the contractor for this work. This project started June 10, 2024 and is anticipated to take 6 weeks to complete. Small road closures will be needed periodically as the work progresses through Mountain.

Project Updates:

Update August 22, 2024:

The new sewer line, manholes and road restoration were completed successfully. The road has been re-opened to the public and the project has been completed.

Update July 12, 2024: Work on the installation of the new sewer line and manholes is nearing completion. The contractor will be working on completing road re-paving after completion of the final tie ins.
