![]() | As part of the manhole rehabilitation program, the City of Winkler evaluates the conditions of it's sewer manholes to determine if they may show signs of infiltration. Over time, sewer manholes can develop cracks, joints, or other openings due to wear and tear, ground movement, or corrosion. These openings allow groundwater to infiltrate the sewer system. Relining the inside of the manholes with a non-permeable and adhesive material helps seal these openings. This prevents infiltration, which can overload the system during heavy rains and contribute to the sewer manholes overflowing. By preventing infiltration, relining reduces the need for frequent maintenance and repairs. It helps extend the service life of the sewer infrastructure, saving money on costly repairs and replacements in the long run. This year, the sewer manhole rehabilitation program is looking to rehabilitate 10 sewer manholes on 6-8th near Pembina Ave. This work is expected to be completed over the summer. |
