On October 27, 2011 Mr. W.J. (Bill) Siemens was honored as Winkler's 2011 Citizen of the Year hosted by the Winkler Community Foundation. Presenting the award is Tash Olfert, WCF Board member.

New in 2011, the Citizen of Year recipient was given $1,000 to grant to a charitable organization of his choice, for a project that met the Winkler Community Foundation's Granting policy. Mr W.J. Siemens chose the Winkler Heritage Museum to be the recipient choice grant.

The Winkler Community Foundation is committed to connecting donors with opportunities to support causes they care about, as well as responding to the changing needs of our community.

No matter the size, all gifts to the Foundation have impact because they are pooled and permanently invested to generate income for granting.

WCF grants once a year in Fall.

2011 Grant recipients were announced at the Citizen of the Year banquet on Thursday, October 27, 2011. All applicants will be notified the first week of November.

Grant applications for 2012 are to be received by September 30th.
