Donor Information
There are many ways in which you can leave a legacy in our community. The building of the WCF endowment is an excellent way in which you can give a gift to the community that continues to generate funds for years to come.
The following are examples of ways you can leave your legacy.
- A Designated Fund allows the donor to set up an individual fund designating the grant dollars from that fund to a specific charitable organization or to support a specified cause. The charitable organization is to receive the interest annually.
- A Field of Interest Fund allows the donor to identify a general area of interest that he/she wishes to support.
- A Family Fund provides the opportunity to make contributions in the name of their family, thereby promoting the legacy of the family name through annual grants from the WCF.
The donor, which could be an individual, family or business, can be also be involved in the distribution of the grants from the fund if they choose. A minimum amount is required to set up a designated fund.
Flow-through Granting
Flow through grants are funds received by the Winkler Community Foundation that are disbursed by their entirety to charitable organizations. The reasons for offering flow-through gifting are as varied as the reasons a donor may offer this kind of gift. It can be as simple as a gift that tops up the annual granting of a fund, to more complex reasons of anonymity, or a donor that wants to work with the foundation but is not yet ready to start a permanent endowment fund. Each flow-through grant request is considered carefully.
