Winkler Citizen of the Year
The Winkler Community Foundation is proud to be the sponsor of the Winkler Citizen of the Year Award.
The award originated with the Kinsmen Club of Winkler in 1977 and was later sponsored by the Lions Club. The award lay dormant for two years after the Chamber chose to focus on a more business oriented award. The WCF Board of Directors saw the opportunity and need to keep the award alive and worked toward reviving it in 2006, Winkler's Centennial year.
The Winkler Community Foundation is about making a difference in the community of Winkler. That is why we feel the Citizen of the Year award presentation is a perfect fit for us. We are recognizing the efforts of an individual who contributes to making the City of Winkler a great place to live, work, play and learn.
This award will continue to recognize volunteerism and good citizenship in our community.
