Welcome
The Winkler Community Foundation (WCF) is a charitable organization that builds endowment funds to provide ongoing support for other local non-profit and charitable organizations in Winkler and surrounding area. The income earned by these funds is used to give grants to a wide range of community groups, while the original investment is left to grow generating more funds to grant in the future.
From 1996-2008, WCF has granted just over $266,835.00 back to the community of Winkler and surrounding area. These grants have supported capital purchases, new programs and scholarships of 47 different local non-profit and charitable organizations.
WCF currently has five different funds:
- Community Fund - which supports the general granting program
- Dr C W Wiebe Fund - which supports the purchase of medical equipment
- Youth in Philanthropy Fund - which supports teaching youth about philanthropy through
identifying community needs, fundraising and granting funds to local organizations
- General Operating Fund - which supports the administration expenses of the WCF
- Fire Rescue Fund - which supports Fire Rescue education, training, scholarships and equipment
WCF also offers donors to set up a donor designated fund. This allows the donor to set up an individual fund designating the grant dollars from that fund to a specific charitable organization or to support a specified cause. The donor, which could be an individual, family or business, can be also be involved in the distribution of the grants from the fund. A minimum amount is required to set up a designated fund. To discuss the many options available please contact Myra Peters at 204-362-9292 or by email at wcf@winkleronline.com.
